The intervention consists of the renovation of an apartment to be used as an artist’s studio. The property is located on the attic floor of a building located in a historic neighborhood of Rome. The objective of the project was to create a large and extremely bright work environment. The studio is divided into two main areas: one mainly for service, with the mezzanine entrance area, the bathroom, the workstations and a small kitchenette; the other is configured as an open space flexible to various needs. Here, all the partitions that divided the space in two and created a dimly lit area were removed, to create a single environment and make the most of the light coming from the existing windows. To this end and also to create a greater relationship between the internal space and the large external terrace, a new large opening was opened next to the existing French window. This allowed us to give greater depth to the space and illuminate it uniformly.
